So the top margin of my document is n ot showing. This annoys me. How do I get it back? What do you call this view or setting or general annoyance?

Use LibreOffice. And I use a Wahl hair cutter on beard and head about every 4 months . With a little practice, anyone can do a decent job. The difference between a good haircut and a bad one is about 2 weeks.

Try view tab, the print layout in the top left corner
Or did you set the margin to 0?

No, the magic convention is hide white space . I got it sorted out.

IIRC that's the continuous page display mode (I don't remember what it's called exactly). Near the bottom right corner of the window there are a few buttons that change the display. One of them will switch to normal page view, and another one to outline mode.

The wonderful world of Microsoft UI. There is a “whitespace between pages” option buried somewhere without an obvious control that suppresses the top/bottom margins so you can fit more content on the screen .
COVID-19 has meant that I no longer have the option of seeing my family, which I’m OK with but they’re not . It’s meant the same for other people I know, and it bothers them a lot more.

Yeah. This is a writing prompt for 13-year-olds who are holed up in their houses with immediate family and cousins. My wife’s extended family is great and I miss them.
